TOOTHILL: Nicholas Knight, 37, of Beaulieu Close, Toothill, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in the Parade on March 9, using abusive language, refusing to move on and urinating in public. He was fined £50 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge, although this was deemed paid by time served.

WILTSHIRE: Laura Taylor, 36, of Downend, Bristol, pleaded guilty to stealing £14,587.59 from a man between January 2, 2017, and February 11, 2020, in Calne. She was granted unconditional bail to appear before Swindon Crown Court for sentence on December 4.

LIDEN: Neil Wilson, 40, of Briarswood Court, will stand trial over an allegation he was in possession of a rolling pin in Morrison’s. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of an offensive weapon on July 1, 2020, although admitted stealing cider and sweets on the same date. He was bailed for the trial at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on January 12, 2021.

PURTON: Robert Kemp, 52, of Station Road, pleaded guilty to submitting fraudulent VAT returns between 2015 and 2016, possession of criminal property and entering into an arrangement to launder fraudulently-obtained VAT repayments. He was bailed to appear before Swindon Crown Court on December 4 for sentence. His bail conditions require him to live and sleep at a house in Purton, surrender his passports and report to Gablecross police station every Wednesday.

WALCOT: Michael Merchant, 45, of Harrington Walk, pleaded guilty to damaging a window, coffee table and music system. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £119 in costs and surcharge, although the sums were deemed paid by time served. He was given a 12-month restraining order preventing him from going to Exeter Street.

SWINDON: Steven Starr, 32, of Bowood Road, pleaded guilty to drink-driving. He was caught behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa in Joiner Lane on November 2 when tests later found he had 11mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg. He was given a 12 month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and was ordered to pay £180 in costs and surcharge. He was banned from driving for two years.

PEATMOOR: Nicola Theobald, 47, of Stockbridge Copse, was fined £84 after she admitted dangerous driving a failing to stop at the scene of an accident on Thamesdown Drive on September 23 last year. She was banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay £119 in costs and surcharge. Theobald will not be allowed to obtain her licence until she passes an extended retest.

WILTSHIRE: Haydn Andrews, 27, of Haystack Avenue, Chippenham, admitted assaulting a policeman at Great Western Hospital last November and driving a BMW 1 series in Malmesbury while over the cannabis and cocaine limit.

He must pay £50 compensation to the officer, carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, pay £180 in costs and surcharge and was banned from the roads for 18 months.

TOWN CENTRE: Matthew Wheeler, 26, of Commercial Road, was given 16 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for 18 months after he admitted possession with intent to supply cannabis, assault causing actual bodily harm and making a threatening telephone call. He was ordered to pay £529 compensation to the assault victim, £85 costs and a £122 victim surcharge. A restraining order prevents him from contacting the victim of the ABH until May 4, 2022.

SWINDON: Royden Robinson, 42, of Rycroft Grove, Gloucestershire, entered no pleas to an allegation of wounding with intent and theft of an iPhone X, jacket, keys and Apple headphones from the complainant in the assault case. He was bailed to appear before Swindon Crown Court on December 4 for plea.

CRICKLADE: Shane Allen, 31, of Lady Mead, admitted sending threatening text messages and breaching a domestic violence protection order. He was given an 18 month community order with a requirement to complete the building better relationships course and do 100 hours of unpaid work. He must abide by a 12-month restraining order. Magistrates imposed £85 costs and ordered Allen pay a £95 victim surcharge.
