Watford striker Andre Gray has been fined £200 by Surrey Police for a party held at his home on Saturday.

After limping out of the game against Preston at Vicarage Road, Gray was discovered to have hosted several friends at his house in Surrey the same evening, with video footage sent to The Sun.

While the striker offered an apology to the tabloid, claiming he had been “naive” police investigated the incident and slapped Gray with a fixed penalty fine. It is the second time Gray has breached lockdown restrictions by hosting friends at his house.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police said on Wednesday: “We were made aware of a possible breach of coronavirus regulations at a Surrey address yesterday (1 December).

Enquiries were carried out and a 29-year-old man from Windlesham has been given a Fixed Penalty Notice after breaching coronavirus regulations by participating in an indoor gathering.

The gathering took place on Saturday evening (28 November).”

That fine is not the end of his punishment however, with the club understood to be unhappy with the striker’s behaviour, which they consider to be against their ethos and philosophy.

Any punishment handed down by the club is expected to be kept in house and not disclosed to the public.

Whether or not he will be suspended from the first team, as he was last time, remains to be seen. He is expected to return from injury within the next two to three weeks.
