Windows across Devizes were adorned with stunning pieces of art this weekend.

Although Devizes Outside Celebratory Arts (DOCA) couldn’t bring their well known lantern parade to Devizes this year, they still managed to create some magic in the town over the weekend.

Residents and businesses have created an amazing trail of decorated windows as part of the Window Wanderland project. A total of 148 windows were registered and the website was visited well over 4000 times. Feedback on social media has been so positive that there have been calls for it to become and annual event.

Loz Samuels, artistic director of DOCA, said: “We were amazed and thrilled at the response to this project, there seems huge enthusiasm to do it again. Some of the windows were really beautiful; they covered a huge range of subjects and showed fantastic creativity.

"I went out on Friday to have a look and met local people taking a stroll with their families, it was such a friendly and most importantly safe thing to do, I think it’s just what the town needed.”

Some window displays still remain, and people have been encouraged to visit the Shambles Market to see the beautiful baubles hanging from the ceiling. They have been made by residents of Hayward Care Centre, students at Nursteed Primary School and The Trinity CE Primary Academy, Kingfisher Café and the Mayor's Knitting Group and are very popular with the traders there.

DOCA are now trying to raise funds for next year with an uncertain future ahead they are appealing for donations via their website
