Wooden benches have been removed from the town centre of Devizes.
The Town Council has been asked by Wiltshire Police to remove the picnic benches from the Market Place, in an attempt to stop people gathering during lockdown.
A post on the Town Council's Facebook page states: "There are many other benches around the town that we cannot move, but we would ask that you do not use them unless it is an absolute necessity.
"As soon as the current lockdown restrictions are eased, we will put the benches back in position.
"Please continue to follow the Government guidelines, to reduce the risk of spreading the virus."
The street furniture formed part of a cafe culture initiative, which hoped to encoureage people back shopping in the town.
