After today's damning report on supermarket chains failing to tackle the issue of single-use plastic, we've put together a list of zero-waste shops you can find in and around Swindon.
According to the charity Checking Out Plastics, the UK’s 10 largest supermarket chains put plastic equivalent to the weight of 90 Eiffel Towers on to the market in 2019.
The study, conducted in partnership with the London-based Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), found almost 900,000 tonnes of plastic packaging had passed through the tills of the biggest retailers.
While the onus remains with the major chains to solve this issue, many people have turned to eco-friendly alternatives when it comes to shopping.
Zero-waste shops are places where you can buy products in bulk with reusable, recyclable or returnable containers. In most cases, you can take your own containers and fill them up right there.
But where are these places in Swindon? Here we are featuring some zero-waste shops that continue to operate throughout lockdown. Do you know any more?
