AN OLYMPIC Gold medallist has backed the campaign to save the Oasis leisure centre.
Rebecca Adlington OBE recorded a video for the Save Oasis Swindon Facebook page pushing for the facility to be reopened.
She said: "I'm extremely sorry to hear about Swindon's famous Oasis leisure centre being permanently closed due to the impact of Covid.
"Swimming is a life skill... and it is so important for our mental and physical health. I know so many people who are missing the pool right now and cant'
"Fingers crossed for you guys because I would love to see a story about it being saved rather than shut down. Best of luck."
Rebecca won two gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 400-metre freestyle and 800-metre freestyle, breaking the world record of Janet Evans in the 800-metre final.
