FURTHER support for traders could be put in place to back Wiltshire Council's successful bid for £16.3 million from the Government's Future High Street Fund.
Trowbridge Town Council is being recommended to put into place a strategy and policy framework to look at further supporting its high street shops and businesses.
It would be spearheaded by a newly-established High Street Working Group, dedicated to proposing policy and putting recommendations to committees and full council.
The recommendation is being made by Trowbridge Town Council's Tory Group leader Cllr Antonio Piazza and is being seconded by Cllr Edward Kirk.
It will be considered by the full council meeting on Tuesday, March 16.
They say the town council needs to play a more proactive role in supporting small independent retailers and the High Street as a whole during times of crisis such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
Business owners will not be expected to contribute financially for involvement.
