SWINDON Borough Council's grounds team cleared more than 12 tonnes of rubbish from the roadside along Great Western Way last month.
The local authority thanked the team on social media for their hard work.
The groundsmen and groundswomen spent four days litter picking and removing branches and silt totalling 12.5 tonnes,
Of this, more than six tonnes was collected in a single day.
Commenters praised their efforts, thanked them for taking the time to tidy the area, and criticised litterbugs for creating the mess in the first place.
A Swindon Borough Council spokesman said: "Please remember to take your litter home with you and not throw rubbish out of your car window.
"Not only does it make the area look untidy, it can also harm the environment."
