A man has been arrested following a crash in Cherhill yesterday. (April 7)

Emergency services raced to the scene - where a red BMW had collided with a house.

Fire crews from Chippenham, Devizes and Trowbridge were called as the driver was initially trapped - but later managed to free himself with the assistance of ambulance crews.

A man has now been arrested.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “At around 12.35pm we received of a report of a car colliding with a house in Cherhill, Calne.

“Emergency services attended the incident, which happened at a property in The Street.

“The male driver of the vehicle, a red BMW, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession of drugs and possession of offensive weapons.

“He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

“Nobody else was injured, but police remain at the scene to carry out enquiries.”
