A BMW driver who crashed into the front of a house in Cherhill has appeared before Swindon magistrates.
The emergency services were called to the village near Calne on Wednesday at around 12.30pm after the plum-coloured saloon careered off the road and into a front garden.
Wiltshire Police said the driver, 43-year-old Matthew Whitehouse, was initially trapped but managed to free himself from the wreckage with the help of paramedics.
Whitehouse leaves Swindon Magistrates' Court
On Thursday afternoon, prosecutor Kate Prince told Swindon Magistrates’ Court that police officers allegedly found two knuckledusters and a small amount of cannabis in the car.
Appearing before the court wearing a grey tracksuit and black jacket, Whitehouse, of Abbots Leigh, near Bristol, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. But he denied possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cannabis.
He was bailed for the trial at the magistrates’ court on June 11. The trial is expected to last up to three hours.
