Plans to change the use of number 8, the Market Place, into a beauty salon and nail bar have been approved by Wiltshire Council.

Olivia Nails Spa Devizes will open on June 9, at the former bookies.

Fairlynx Ltd, alongside Mathewson Waters Architects, had submitted proposals to change the use of the former betting shop.

They wrote: “This application is for a change of use to enable a new business to operate from these premises within the commercial, retail heart of the town. There would be no loss of significance to the heritage asset and no loss of historical wall, floor, joinery or ceiling fabric.

"There is public benefit in enabling a new business to operate within the Market Place.”

The council approved plans this week and stated: that the proposal does not include any physical changes toto the building, as such no harm will occur to the significance or setting of the listed building and the character and appearance of the conservation area will be preserved.

“Whilst the use of the building will be changing from a betting shop to a nail salon, the way in which the building will operate will generally remain the same.”

The building is a grade 2 listed property.
