AROUND 40 climate activists from the Bath and Bradford on Avon areas are to protest at the G7 summit taking place in Cornwall this week.
They are travelling down to Carbis Bay near St Ives to join a massive climate activist presence throughout the three-day summit which starts on Friday (June 11).
During the summit, young climate activists from Extinction Rebellion Bath will be “drowned in crude oil” on Porthminster Beach on Friday afternoon by characters representing the big oil giants Shell and BP to highlight the continued investment in fossil fuel by Exxon since scientists warned them in 1982.
Activists will also demand Barclays and HSBC “clean up their act” by dressing up as old- style cleaners armed with mops and dusters.
Rebels will scrub down the shop fronts of Barclays and HSBC branches in Falmouth on Saturday and warn people to keep clear of the oil and greenwash.
