A CHARITY close to the hearts of a Swindon couple received £1,560 after their father-in-law suggested his company sponsor the good cause.

John Sheppard works for Biffa Waste Management, which was looking for a Swindon charity to support. He put forward Ronald McDonald House after his daughter Rebecca Osbourn's baby was born with a condition called CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia).

She and husband Dan spent a lot of time at John Radcliffe Hospital and the charity gave her parents the chance to stay nearby and provide emotional support to the couple while the new arrival was being looked after.

Rebecca's daughter died of the condition in January 2020.

Biffa sponsored a total of £1,560 over the last two years which in turn will provide 62 nights’ accommodation for families during their times of need.
