A SUMMER of outdoor theatre is coming to the Old Town Bowl.

The historic Town Gardens venue will host a range of plays and performances from professional touring theatre companies that hail from all over the UK. South Swindon Parish Council launched the Theatre at the Bowl programme to inspire and entertain audiences of all ages from Saturday July 10 to Friday August 20.

It kicks off with BlackBox Theatre’s production of Noël Coward’s classic Blithe Spirit on July 10 from 7pm. A week later, The Last Baguette's version of King Arthur will begin at 2.30pm and 7pm.

An adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby with Heartbreak Productions and the Nick Carraway quartet will fill the bowl with jazz on July 30 from 7.30pm.

Heartbreak Productions return the next day for magic, puppetry, music and storytelling with Wonder with Grimm at 3pm.

The grand finales at 7pm on August 19 and 20 will have The Duke’s Theatre Company delivering a modern take on Romeo & Juliet.

Coun Neil Hopkins said, “We are delighted to be hosting such a fantastic variety of professional theatre companies, as we welcome back audiences safely to Town Gardens Bowl for a summer of accessible and unforgettable outdoor theatre experiences.

"We hope this will be the beginning of a much-loved addition and a firm fixture for summer here at Town Gardens, amongst other future events.”
