A TOTAL of 153 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Swindon in the last 24 hours.

The rate of infection in Swindon now stands at 456.8 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 510.9.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 43,404 over the period, to 5,563,006.

However, there were no new coronavirus deaths recorded in the latest 24-hour period in Swindon.

The dashboard shows 271 people had died in the area by July 21 – which was unchanged from Tuesday.

It means there has been one death in the past week, which is an increase on none the previous week.
