THE future of Cavendish Square remains uncertain after the council froze plans to buy it back from a private developer.
Campaigners in the Parks - as well as South Swindon MP Robert Buckand - had hoped the local authority would step in and help revive the community hub.
It remains blighted by a number of problems, including flooding resulting from the absence of drainage, poor lighting, a collapsed fence and an unsafe floor.
The square was built in the 1960s - here is a selection of images from the Adver archives showing it in its former glory.
