THE next step in the complex construction of the new southern access road under the M4 will be underway soon.

The £26 million underpass is being constructed underneath the M4 motorway to create a new access route to and from the new Wichelstowe development.

Work will now start on a new roundabout at Mill Lane which will provide access to the new homes being built to the east of the site and connect the new area with the rest of the wider road network.

In addition to this, new sections of primary streets will be built as well to extend the road network through the site.

The roundabout work will require a temporary road closure this autumn along the stretch of Mill Lane between the M4 crossing and Waitrose.

Access to the Waitrose supermarket and the existing housing will be maintained from the north and advance notice of the closures will be provided.
