William and Mary Coulthard's family is celebrating the arrival of a fifth generation - and it isn't the first time.

The couple hosted a get together at their Market Lavington Home to mark the birth of great, great grandson Leo.

The tot was born on 27 August and lives with mum Summer and dad James in Portsmouth so William, 91, and Mary, 90, aren’t able to see them as often as other family members.

William said: “It feels great- great to spend the day with them! It’s very exciting.

“Most people don’t have a great-grandad let alone a great-great grandad.

“It’s lovely having a little one in the family again. We are absolutely thrilled.

“We’re very close-knit as a family even though there’s over 20 of us now.

“Although it was only for the day, it was still so enjoyable.”

The couple were joined by daughter Lynda, 72, and her husband Michael, 73, granddaughter Stacey, 47, great-granddaughter Summer, 26, and her partner James, 26.

William and Mary usually see daughter Lynda every week but normally meet up with granddaughter Stacey and great-granddaughter Summer once a month.

This is not the first occasion the family has seen five generations.

In 1974, Mary was pictured as a grandmother in the five generation snap.

Then in 1996, Mary was pictured as a great-grandmother with her mum, her daughter, her granddaughter and her great-granddaughter.

William added: “We’re at the top of the tree now! It’s quite an unusual feeling.”

They married aged 18 and 17 after the end of the Second Word war ended.

William was a paymaster in the army and this saw the family stationed in Cyprus. Their daughter Lynda met her husband Michael while they were there.

Granddaughter Stacey is a civil servant and great-granddaughter Summer is a musician. She lives in Portsmouth with Leo William and partner James, a Royal Marine.
