LOCAL community group Trowbridge Future is appealing for help to launch a community fridge on the Longfield estate for individuals and families in need.

The community fridge will redistribute food unsold by supermarkets and the initiative will also assist in efforts to solve the climate crisis by feeding ‘bellies, not bins’.

Organisers have set a £3,500 target to fund the project. The fridge will be open once a week at the Longfield Community Centre with times to be confirmed at a later date.

The project follows on from a similar one on the town’s Seymour estate, launched some time ago.

Residents will be welcome to visit the centre and help themselves to foodstuffs donated by local supermarkets and bakeries and there will be both chilled and dry goods on offer. Additionally, Trowbridge Future will be offering referrals to the Storehouse Food Bank.
