A 11-year-old girl who started her own business, is donating some of the proceeds to charity to support her best friend who is severely sight impaired.

Eva Saunders started making jewellery when she was given beads for her birthday. She now makes and sells beaded bracelets, anklets and necklaces to order and gives £2 of the sale price to Guide Dogs.

Back in June, best friend Maisy Smith was diagnosed with LHON, a rare genetic disease which affects one in 50,000 people and causes visual impairment.

She is currently registered as severely sight impaired - in effect blind.

Eva has so far made 65 sale and raised £200 for Guide Dogs.

Maisy said: “I think it’s great because if there’s more money going to the guide dogs, they can spend more money on training the dogs when they grow up.”

Eva said: “People can choose the colours and what they want written on it. There are lots of beads and different strings.

“It takes me around 20 minutes to make one. People message me with orders on Instagram or on my Etsy shop.”

Eva has big plans for her special Halloween and Christmas themed bracelets which will include new elements like Christmas charms. She hopes to sell more of her designs at a Christmas fete with her aunt this year.

Eva was excited recently when a local Instagram influencer ordered one of the bracelets. After Kelly Terranova, who has 41,000 followers, posted a picture of the bracelet on her own page, Eva’s follower numbers shot up from 33 to over 200.

Eva received around 30 order requests from all over the UK within half an hour of Kelly sharing her stylish new bracelet.

Mum Julie said: “We’re going to have to give up school and work for this business soon!”

Eva and Maisy have been best friends since they were five and when Eva's not working on her jewellery they enjoy playing football together and having sleepovers.

Maisy also has her own Instagram page where, instead of crafting jewellery, she shows off her baking skills.

The page was inspired by her new talking weighing scales, which she has called Brian. She described Brian as her “sous chef” because it reads out how much something weighs.

The pair are in their final year of primary school at Haydonleigh and are hoping they will get into the same secondary school next September.
