An actress who founded a performing arts school in Swindon will be appearing on cinema screens across the country later this month.

The smash hit West End production of Anything Goes will be shown in cinemas on November 28 and December 1.

Georgie Ashford was part of the show's ensemble for its full run from July 23 to November 6 and was the understudy for one of the lead roles as Hope Harcourt.

She managed this while running her new school, Esprit Performing Arts, in Swindon which she set up with her partner Linford Johnson during lockdown because they wanted to "bring the West End to Swindon".

Georgie who has performed in other West End shows like Legally Blonde, said: "It's really exciting to be able to see myself in the cinema.

This Is Wiltshire:

"It's an ensemble show so everyone is in quite a lot of scenes singing and dancing which is great.

"I have a YouTube channel where I share advice about the industry and I've been on the BBC Proms on Christmas Day so, although I'm quite used to seeing myself on camera, it will be weird to watch myself professionally in the cinema.

"It's been an amazing experience and such a privilege to go and work with actors like Robert Lindsay. Felicity Kendal was incredible and she's a national treasure.

"I've learnt so much from watching those Broadway legends."

The 'I Get a Kick Out of You' and 'You're the Top' musical broke the Barbican Centre's box office records by grossing £717,000 in one week and starred Sutton Foster, Felicity Kendal and Robert Lindsay.

The show is set aboard the S. S. American cruise liner and follows two pairs trying to find love.

During the run, Georgie was travelling between Swindon and London so that she could teach her Saturday classes and perform in two shows later in the day.

Georgie and Linford, who is also a West End actor, teach students the full performing arts package: singing, dancing and acting.

The 31-year-old, who was born in Swindon and first started dancing at Tanwood School, added: "We wanted to share our experiences of the West End to classes and keep bringing what's relevant to students as well as providing professional training.

"A few of our students have been doing auditions in London which is great.

"They are very excited that my show will be in the cinemas and a few parents have emailed to say they've booked tickets."

Georgie and Linford intend to introduce more classes at The Esprit Centre on Headlands Grove.
