The Aldbourne Band and soloists from The Kentwood Choir will perform a Christmas concert next month.

There have been three bands in the village of Aldbourne since 1860. The current one, known as the Dabchicks, was formed by village baker Albert Stacey in 1898 and his great-grandson plays in it now.

The band sits at 36th in the world ranking of around 19,000 bands worldwide.

Kentwood Show Choir members Kathy Hobson, Gill May and Graham Davison-Smith have each been part of the group for 50 years and are joining with the Aldbourne Band for this concert.

They will be accompanied at the piano by musical director Sheila Harrod.

The concert will be at Christ Church on December 14 from 7pm. Tickets cost £12 each from Sue Frawley on 07881246110 and Alan Holmes Music on 01793520948.

Refreshments can be bought on the night. Proceeds will be shared between The Swindon Food Collective and the Down’s Syndrome Choir.
