An exciting first-look at what Swindon's football stadium might look like has been revealed.

A CGI mock-up of what the future might hold for the County Ground was shared as part of a presentation at this week's Swindon Town Supporters Trust annual general meeting.

The plans show what the football club's base might look like after its redevelopment, set to take seven years. This Is Wiltshire:

Swindon Borough Council recently approved the £2.5m sale of the building to a joint venture between the football club itself and the supporters' trust.

Part of the agreement between the council and the joint venture is that money will be invested into improving the ground and some details were shared about what improvements were planned.

Once the sale has been completed, the work is set to begin almost immediately on adding a roof to the Stratton Bank.

This is expected to take 12 months and cost an estimated £1m.

In 2023-2024 the joint venture will finance work to install corporate boxes into the existing Don Rogers stand.

This £1.5m project will also include a new entrance and lift for disabled access, plus the enhancement of the green space that's adjacent and club parking.

The following year a major project is slated to begin, turning the Town End into a 5,000 all-seated stand, conference centre and hotel.

This will cost a further £20m and will also include a club museum, club offices and a  retail space.

Beyond that there are plans to redevelop the Arkells stand to incorporate education facilities, community space, retail opportunities a gym and new facilities for the club itself, although there is no estimate of cost for this.

If this work isn't started and carried out, Swindon Borough Council has the opportunity to take back ownership of the building.

But Swindon Town's CEO Rob Angus has recently spoken of how important the club's owner, Clem Morfuni, will be going forward.

"Clem is the kind of person that when he says he's going to do something he does it, and we've seen that already with things he's done at the club, so it's very exciting," he previously told The Adver.

A press conference is being held at the club tonight where representatives from the club and supporters trust will share more about their plans for the County Ground.
