A free concert will be taking place at Town Gardens Bowl this weekend.

The North Swindon Big Band will host their first concert of the season on Sunday, May 1.

The concert will include a wide range of music from the swing and dance era of the 1930s, largely drawn from the great American songbook, mixed together with well-known contemporary numbers.

Concert goers can expect to be entertained by jazz and big band standards from Glenn Miller, Miles Davis and George Gershwin, as well as some vocal numbers made popular by Frank Sinatra, The Pussycat Dolls and Adele.

The 20-piece band includes many highly experienced and talented musicians, together with vocalists Ken Jell and Pauline Richings

The band is led by David Baker, who commented: "We are delighted to be launching the Town Gardens’ 2022 summer season.

"We’re really looking forward to entertaining Swindon residents on the May Day Sunday."

The North Swindon Big Band was formed in 1993, then with the name U3A Dance Orchestra, and has since then performed on public and private functions around Swindon and Wiltshire.
