Three men and a woman appeared in court after being abusive or insulting towards other people.

On June 6 2021, Stuart Cambridge of Lincoln Street caused alarm and distress to two women. The 50-year-old initially pleaded not guilty to this offence then later changed his plea to guilty in February.

Cambridge received a restraining order against him for both victims which lasts until February 2024.

He must pay £200 in court costs plus £95 to victim services, and must follow a community order with alcohol treatment and rehabiliration activity requirements.

On November 16 2021, Lucy Maull of Inverary Road in Wroughton used threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress in Swindon.

The 36-year-old received an £80 fine earlier this year and must pay £85 in court costs plus a £34 contribution towards victim services.

Joseph Spurrett behaved in a similar way towards two women to cause them harrassment or distress on March 28 in Swindon.

The 29-year-old of Church Place received a 14-week jail sentence which has been suspended for 12 months.

The reason for this, according to court documents, is because of "serious prolonged abuse to persons engaged in employment in public place."

Spurrett must comply with a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement and do 130 hours of unpaid work within the supervision period of 12 months.

On October 1 Shane O'Hanlon of Courtenay Road used racially-aggravated threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress.

He pleaded guilty to the offence at Swindon Magistrates Court last month and was sentenced on the same day. The 34-year-old received a £300 fine and must pay £85 in court costs plus £34 to victim services.
