The Royal Wootton Bassett Carnival is finally celebrating its 50th anniversary after the milestone event, which was cancelled last year due to Coronavirus pandemic, is finally set to go ahead.

Fancy dress, dancers, confetti, and floats are set to line the street's of the Wiltshire town, which is already in the middle of a series of events for locals to enjoy heading up to the big grand procession on Saturday May 21.

But, organiser Nicky Burns, has put out an appeal for more people to join the procession.

"We would like more entries for the procession," she said, "It can be businesses, families, friends, neighbours -in fact any one at all -the theme is gold, due to the 50 years, however this is not necessary - any theme will be acceptable."

Until the procession locals and visitors can enjoy a 'spot the mistake' trail with local businesses and shops making window displays with one item they don't sell in them.

Scarrott's Fun Fair is in town for three days, there's also a film night, a curry night, bingo, a quiz, a fun run, a church service and open days and a car wash at the fire station.
