The main route into the village of Wanborough is set to be completely closed to traffic for three months.

As part of the new Redlands housing development for the New Eastern Villages new highway drainage and street lights need to be installed on Wanborough Road, as well as new footpath construction.

For these improvements to go ahead the road will close to all vehicles, cyclists and walkers between Poplars Nursery and Burycroft Junction from Monday, June 6 until Friday, September 9.

Although Swindon Borough Council did confirm that "Access to businesses and homes on the road will be maintained, and emergency services have been notified of the closure,"

The diversion route for local traffic will be High Street, Callas Hill, B4192 to Liddington, Purley Road, Marlborough Road, Dorcan Way, Kingfisher Drive and vice-versa.

The contractor carrying out the works Conlon Ltd, Swindon Borough Council and Vistry will be holding a drop-in session at Wanborough Village Hall from 4-5pm on Tuesday May 17 where residents will be able to discuss their concerns.

Alternatively members of the public can contact Conlon's junior project manager Keturah Watts at keturah.watts@conlon.co.uk

"We will also be working on the Southern Connector Access Road scheme under this closure," the council added.
