Swindon's new state-of-the-art surgery opened on Monday and there are already around 4,000 patients registered to the practice.

Tadpole Surgery, on William Morris Way, will serve patients from Tadpole, Abbey Farm and St Andrews Ridge.

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson attended the official opening and cut the ribbon this morning.

The GP surgery has the capacity to book up to 8,500 patients and the first in-person appointments will take place this week.

Mr Tomlinson said: "The opening of Tadpole Surgery is a huge boost for the local community.

This Is Wiltshire:

"The Tadpole Surgery will offer a more local GP service to people living in one of the fastest growing areas of Swindon.

"I have worked closely with the team throughout the process to make sure this fantastic new facility has been delivered.

"Securing additional capacity and wider health services will be very much welcomed by fellow local residents, and I wish the new team the best!"

The practice has 14 consulting rooms including GP rooms and nurse treatment areas as well as eight administrative staff and 11 clinicians. This Is Wiltshire:

Tadpole Surgery is Westrop Medical Practice's fifth surgery. Westrop currently serves 30,000 people in Highworth, North Swindon, Old Town and Blunsdon.
