TWO new flower beds have been planted at GWR Park.

South Swindon Parish Council shared a picture of the colourful additions to the popular town centre park on Facebook and explained the decision making process behind them.

It said: "Earlier this year we tasked our trainee gardeners to design and plant two new beds on the eastern side of the park with the aim of revitalising this area that used to have formal gardens.

"The beds produced are pollinator friendly, fragrant, perennial schemes of a ‘cottage garden’ style. We believe the planting schemes will add instant colour and vibrancy to the park. We’ve included the original designs of the beds in this post.

It added: "These beds are the forerunner to a wider planting scheme due to take place on the eastern side of GWR Park over the next few years - as part of the Heritage Action Zone project.

"We will be able to share more information on this in due course so watch this space!"
