TWO people have been arrested for allegedly trying to open car doors on a Swindon street.

Officers handcuffed a 44-year-old man and 33-year-old woman in the early hours of Sunday morning after being called to Kent Road.

The pair were taken to custody while police continue investigating the incident.

A spokesman said: "We’re urging car owners in a residential area of Swindon to be extra vigilant after two people were arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference.

"We would ask residents of Kent Road, Avenue Road and the surrounding area to check their vehicles and ensure they are locked.

"If you find your vehicle unlocked, we would ask that you check if anything has been stolen or if it has any damage.

"If so, please contact us immediately on 101 and quote crime reference number 54220083023."
