A Swindon woman has been slapped with a fine after she broke coronavirus restrictions.
Chloe Ann O’Hara of Covingham Square appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on October 7 where she pleaded guilty to one charge of participating in a gathering of two or more people in an outdoor place whilst in a tier four area.
The offence took place on March 27, 2021, during which the UK was under a strict lockdown following a surge of covid infections during the winter.
This meant that people could not meet each other indoors and they could only see one other person in a public outdoor area.
Court records show that the 23-year-old was caught after she was in vehicle with two or more people in Gloucester Street in Swindon.
Furthermore, the records show that O’Hara’s original sentence on December 2, 2021 had been quashed at the same hearing, after she made an application to reopen the case under section 142 of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980.
After this was granted, Magistrates fined the defendant £166 and ordered her to pay a victim surcharge of £34.
No order for costs was made.
