Texting while driving is considered to be one of the biggest causes of crashes on our roads, but police look down on it even more when the vehicle you are in is a lorry.

One driver found this out the hard way recently when they were pulled over by a roads policing unit officer in a marked squad car who caught them in the act.

The incident was reported via the Wiltshire Specialist Ops Twitter account which covers armed response and RPU.

In the tweet, a spokesperson for the force poked fun at the fact that many drivers have been caught doing something obviously illegal by a blatantly obvious marked car, with this lorry driver as no exception.

They said: "Fleet 008 is still having issues being seen by drivers, considering its constant visible presence on the roads of Wiltshire... RPU passed this HGV today, the driver was texting on their phone, clearly too distracted to notice us!! (Other marked units are available)."

They did not include the location of where the lorry driver was caught, but the picture clearly shows that it was one of the county's motorways.

The police were unable to give an update on the location of the crime.
