MORE than 20 jobs at two M&Co shops in Wiltshire are at risk after the high street retail fashion chain collapsed into administration again.

M&Co Trading Ltd made the announcement on Friday with 170 stores at risk of closing.

The company now needs to find a buyer to avoid disappearing from the high street forever.

The Wiltshire stores at risk are those in The Pippin in Calne and Market Place, Warminster. Together, they are understood to employ more than 20 people.

Managers at the Calne and Warminster stores declined to comment on the company’s situation, saying they were not allowed to give out information.

M&Co’s store in Silver Street, Trowbridge, closed two years ago after it went into administration, with 47 stores shut and 380 jobs lost nationwide.

This time, the UK fashion chain's collapse has come as it struggles to cope with higher costs and waning consumer appetite.

The retailer appointed Teneo Financial Advisory to oversee the administration, seeking a possible sale of the business while M&Co's 170 stores and website continue to operate.

All of the shops should be open and running as normal for now, while administrators Teneo look for another company to take over the business.

M&Co announced it is hosting a "closing down" sale, in store and online.
