It's not every day that you come home to find a car on its side in your neighbourhood but that's exactly what happened to some Swindon locals

Wiltshire Police confirmed that a red Vauxhall Corsa had been involved in a single-vehicle crash in Oakhurst Way at around 9.20pm on Friday night.

Photos of the aftermath of the incident, posted on a Priory Vale community Facebook page after someone asked what had happened, showed the car had somehow managed to tip and had ended up laying on its side, completely blocking one side of the road.

One witness who claimed to be there when it happened, said that the driver was able to escape the tipped car by climbing through the front window.

Police further confirmed that one person was taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing

And the force's spokesperson added that no arrests had been made following the crash.

The full statement from the police is as follows: "We responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision around 9.20pm in which a car flipped onto its side on Oakhurst Way Swindon.

"One person was taken to hospital with injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening/changing.

"No arrests were made."
