A DRIVER who was almost twice over the drink-drive limit has been arrested after crashing their car on the motorway.

On its Twitter account, which covers activity from both Wiltshire Police's armed response and roads policing units, Wiltshire Specialist Ops shared a picture of the horrifying aftermath of the driver's actions, showing the front of the car was a crumpled mess and almost certainly a write-off.

But, alongside the photo, a spokesperson for the force revealed that the driver was incredibly lucky and was able to walk away from the horror crash, suffering 'only minor injuries.'

In fact, after wrecking the car, the driver is accused of abandoning the vehicle and leaving it a mangled mess at the scene. But they were later located and arrested.

Below is the full Twitter post on the incident.

"#RPU & #ARG attended this collision on the M4. Miraculously, the driver only had minor injuries. He left the scene but was located and detained. The roadside breath test was twice the limit. Driver arrested & taken to hospital for blood test #teamwork #fatal5 #SharpScratch"
