A motorbike rider has been left with serious injuries following a crash near Swindon during the bank holiday weekend.

The 60-year-old crash victim was involved in a collision with a car at around 12.15pm at the B4696 Braydon Road, Lydiard Plain on Saturday, May 27. 

The three occupants of the car were also taken to hospital as a precaution.

Emergency services responded to the incident, closing the road at Braydon crossroads and urging other motorists to avoid the area as they dealt with the incident. 

The Wiltshire Specialist Ops Twitter account, which details what the force's armed police and roads policing units, posted an update just over two hours after the crash first happened. 

It said: "RPU are at scene dealing with a serious injury RTC at Braydon. Detailed investigation work is taking place and the road will be closed for a considerable amount of time."

It also shared a photo showing that two vital life-saving air ambulances had been scrambled to the scene. 

Wiltshire Police are now looking for anyone who can help with information.
