A SWINDON couple were victims of a brutal assault that left a man in hospital with fractures to his face.
It was sparked by an incident of road rage between two masked men on electric bikes and the couple, who were driving their car.
The pair were driving on Pinehurst Road on Friday, September 29, just after 8am when they had to stop suddenly for another vehicle.
This angered two balaclava-wearing men on bikes who were behind them, with one of them slapping the male driver through his car window.
The couple followed the pair and confronted them, and the male driver was then punched in the face.
His partner took photos of them on her phone but the cyclists stole this and also smashed a window on the car.
A police spokesperson said: “The male driver was taken to hospital for treatment for three fractures to his face, which will need ongoing treatment.”
The two suspects are described as one being tanned, and one white, with both, wearing black tracksuits and balaclavas, riding on black electric bikes.
They were last seen heading towards Tovey Road Park.
Officers have been carrying out an investigation including house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.
The spokesperson added: "If you can help with our enquiries or have CCTV of the incident please contact us on 101 quoting reference number 54230103338."
