A car knocked down an elderly pedestrian and drove away without stopping.

The pensioner crossed Pickwick Road in Corsham at the junction for the Methuen Arms pub at around 7.15pm on Friday.

At the same time, a vehicle pulled out from the junction leading to the pub, then turned right onto Pickwick Road and headed in the direction of the mini roundabout at the junction with Newlands Road.

The car collided with the pedestrian and its driver continued straight across the mini roundabout and travelled along Pickwick Road.

The victim suffered injuries to his ankle and cuts to his head.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a black or green electric Peugeot 3008.
