Swindon runners representing Wiltshire put on a series of impressive performances at the Inter Counties Cross Country Championships.

The event taking place in Nottingham saw some of the fastest cross-country runners from across the country competing across various age groups.

The under-13 girls’ Wiltshire team finished in 25th place as a group, with Charissa Griffiths-Clack, Ellie Charlesworth, and Eslie Scrase all coming home within eight places of each other.

Finley Byrne had the best finish of any Swindon Harriers runner as, fresh off finishing second in the Oxfordshire League, he crossed the line 52nd place out of the 300 finishers at Wollaton Park Byrne, his best finish to date in a national competition.

Byrne was the strongest finisher of an all-Harriers Wiltshire under-13 boys’ team, as Olly Hughes, Dylan Necrews, and Jesse Bryant all finished well to see the team finish in 30th position.

“I was very pleased to wear the county vest again and be the first Wiltshire runners across the line,” said Byrne.

In the other age categories, Ella Spencer was racing in the under-17s race and finished in 64th place and India Ibbotson and Harry Burdekin were two Harriers who competed in the senior races.
