OXFORD Spires returned to winning ways with a 47-43 victory at home to King’s Lynn Stars.

Peter Schroeck’s side came from four points behind to win by as many as Rohan Tungate raced to a match-winning 13+1 haul, while Oxford Cheetahs captain Scott Nicholls was a guest rider and weighed in with a handy 10+1.

There were heat wins too for Charles Wright, who overcame a controversial exclusion in his third ride to end the night on a high, while Erik Riss took the chequered flag on two occasions on his home debut.

Maciej Janowski managed 5+2, while Chris Harris ended the night on five points, with Ashton Boughen scoring three.

Schroeck said: “They pushed us really hard. We knew we couldn’t underestimate King’s Lynn, and they’ll leave disappointed not to have taken anything from the meeting.

“Erik had a positive home debut which we’re pleased about and Rohan was a real star in our middle order.

“Everyone contributed points which is important. This is a team sport and when one rider has a bad night it’s important the boys around them step up and that’s what happened.

“Nine points from six meetings is a healthy return, but it’s early days and we’ll keep focused.”
