BRADFORD Town have confirmed that Rob Mallett has left his position as the manager of the Trowbridge Road club.

Mallett took over the reins at the Toolstation League Premier Division club in the summer, following the hugely successful tenure of Danny Greaves, who moved on to Southern League Frome Town.

His exit comes after the club suffered four straight league and cup defeats, the latest coming on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Shepton Mallet.

A Bradford Town statement said: "After a meeting on Monday evening the club would like to report that manager Rob Mallett has left the club by mutual consent.

"We would like to thank Rob for all his efforts during his stay at the club and wish him well in what he decides to do in the future.''

Under Greaves, Bradford finished a club-record fourth in the Toolstation League Premier Division last season.

Previously the boss at Bristol side Cadbury Heath, Mallett made a fine start to his Bobcats tenure, winning four of his first six league games and overseeing progress in the FA Cup, where they were only edged out by a late goal against Southern League Paulton Rovers.

However, the wheels had started to come off in recent weeks, Bradford losing successive league games to Wellington, Bridgwater and Mallet - two of those defeats coming at home - and being dumped out of the Les Phillips Cup by Cheddar.
