SHOOTING on sight is something FC Dorcan boss Jimmy Horwood wants to see his men apply more in the next month, despite witnessing Saturday’s 3-2 win at home to Marlborough Town Reserves.

Jake Kitchen’s brace and George Bouverie-Brine’s strike proved enough for Dorcan, who recorded their first points of the season after losing their opening three fixtures.

It was three points coming for Horwood, who underlined the capability of his players despite their turbulent start to the season.

Now with their first points on the board, Horwood wants to see his side make the most of chances presented to them – an area which he believes has contributed to their sluggish start.

He said: “It’s weird to be getting our first three points so late into the season.

“We should be right up there as we’ve only been losing games by one goal, we haven’t been able to put the ball into the net – that’s our biggest problem.

“To still concede two goals on Saturday is a bit frustrating but we probably could’ve got a couple more goals in the game to be honest.

“We’ve done nothing different to what we played like last season, if anything we’ve been better defensively.

“For some reason, we’ve not been pulling the trigger. We’ve been trying to score that beautiful goal rather than put the ball in the net.

“Weirdly, although we’ve been losing, I think we’re perhaps too overconfident that we will score regardless what the game is like.”

Elsewhere in the Swindon and District League Premier Division, table topping Ashton Keynes suffered their second defeat of the season at home when they were thumped 6-1 by Ruby Removals – who consequently jumped up to fifth.

Lower Stratton missed out on an opportunity to move into the table’s top half when they lost to Bakers Arms, a game which also carried a 6-1 score.

Wheatsheaf Stratton were another side to pick up an away win as they defeated Swindon Supermarine’s development side 2-1.

Meanwhile Sportz Central remain in control of Division One after getting the better of struggling North Swindon WMC FC in a seven-goal thriller.

Division Two meanwhile saw Redhouse FC maintain top spot after they defeated Bassett Bulldogs 4-2 away from home.
