SWINDON Supermarine secured a first Southern League Premier Division South win since August with a 4-2 victory at home to Farnborough this evening.

Lee Spalding’s side broke their duck in the league on the second weekend of the season with a 2-0 success at Metropolitan Police back on August 18 but have had to wait almost two months to double that tally.

Marine actually fell behind on the night as Connor Cullen fired Farnborough ahead after only nine minutes, but the hosts soon took control before the break.

Jerel Ifil levelled matters at the Webbswood Stadium and further strikes from Connor McDonagh and Stuart Fleetwood made it 3-1 to the hosts at half-time.

Brad Gray continued Marine’s onslaught on the hour mark and although Michael Elias-Fernandes cut the deficit with 20 minutes to play, Spalding’s side comfortably held on for victory.

Elsewhere, Southern League Division One West side Highworth Town earned progress in the Wiltshire Senior Cup following a 2-0 success at Chippenham Park thanks to goals from Matthew Grabe and Toumani Sidibe.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town saw their Wiltshire Senior Cup ambitions come to an end with a 3-2 defeat at home to Westbury United, while Calne Town overcame Pewsey Vale 1-0 in the competition’s other contest.

There was also county success for Fairford Town as they made it through in the Gloucestershire FA Trophy after beating Bristol Telephones 1-0.

Finally, Fairford’s Hellenic League Premier Division rivals Shrivenham were knocked out of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup following a 2-1 defeat at AFC Aldermaston.
