GARETH Davies plans for Shrivenham’s 2-0 triumph at Fairford Town on Tuesday night to act as a catalyst for further success tomorrow when hosting Bishops Cleeve in the Hellenic Premier Division.

Shrivenham recorded their fourth win of their Hellenic League campaign in the week when goals for Daniel Drewitt and Danny Hale either side of half-time lifted Davies’ men to 16th in the table.

Fourteen points from those opening block of games has done little to satisfy the Shrivenham boss, however, and Davies is hopeful of turning the home side’s poor home record on its head when welcoming Cleeve to Barrington Park tomorrow.

“Moving on from Tuesday night , I’d like to think we’ll go into this game with a little bit of confidence,” said Davies.

“That’s been lacking of late. But, to be fair, we’ll go into this game like any other.

“They will all be prepared, it’s up to the lads to go and perform now.

“Bishops Cleeve have that consistency – it’s the same old story. They’re not losing games, but they’re picking up points.

“That’s why they are at the top end of the table.

“I expect to face a big, strong and tough side tomorrow.

“We’ve got to get our mindset right. Hopefully we can give it a good go.”

A handful of changes since the start of the season has helped Shrivenham’s cause slightly.

However, Bishops Cleeve’s record of just three losses from their opening 12 matches shadows the efforts of Davies’ squad.

The Shrivenham boss added: “We’ve had a couple of lads come in and start to find their feet.

“We’ve got a few injuries, but they won’t be a million miles away from full recovery. With regards to a squad, I think we are where we need to be.

“If someone comes along though that we think can improve the squad then we will do our best to get the right people in.

“We want the right people that will run through a brick wall for each other. We’re scrapping for every point, and players that don’t fancy it are not what we need at the moment.

“Everyone has got to be up for the battle. We need everyone to be working hard.

“We know we have quality, but our work rate has let us down at times this season. However, at the moment, we’re working ridiculously hard in games.

“A couple of games we have been slightly unlucky not to get anything, but the last two or three games we’ve got the points that we’ve deserved.”

Elsewhere in the Hellenic Premier Division, Sam Collier’s Royal Wootton Bassett Town will travel to Binfield, while Fairford host Tuffley Rovers.

In Division One West, New College Swindon welcome Cheltenham Saracens, while Malmesbury Victoria enjoy a week off following the departure of boss Kevin Bridgeman.
