HIGHWORTH Town's winless run in Southern League Division One South stretched to a sixth game at the weekend as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Cinderford Town.

After picking up three wins and 11 points from their opening six league fixtures this term, Highworth have only been able to add three more points to that haul upon reaching their dozenth match.

Daniel MacDonald got the only goal of the game for Cinderford at the Save On Tyres Stadium at the weekend, scoring from the penalty spot after 26 minutes.

  • FAIRFORD Town bounced back from their midweek derby defeat to Shrivenham in the Hellenic League Premier Division with a 3-0 win at home to Tuffley Rovers on Saturday.

Ben Saunders struck twice in the first half at Cinder Lane, while Danny Gudger sealed the victory for Jody Bevan's side with a third goal after the break.

Elsewhere, Shrivvy were able to follow up that derby success with another three points at the weekend as they were beaten 3-1 at home by Bishops Cleeve.

Sean McKeon had actually given Gareth Davies' troops the lead at the break at Barrington Park, but the visitors raised their game in the second half and scored three times without reply.

That result sees Bishops Cleeve push Royal Wootton Bassett Town out of the top four in the table after they were beaten 3-2 at Binfield.

Jemel Johnson fired Binfield in front, but the teams headed into half-time all-square after Matt Bennett restored parity for Bassett.

Further strikes from Gary Smith and James Knight saw the home side take control in the second half, and although TJ Bohane did reduce the arrears for Bassett, Sam Collier's troops were unable to find an equaliser.
