SWINDON Supermarine manager Lee Spalding hopes a derby date against Highworth Town tonight can provide the perfect tonic for his side amid a tough run of results.

Marine have lost their last four matches in all competitions and are without a win in five altogether.

The last three of those defeats have come in Southern League Premier Division South, where the Webbswood Stadium side sit just one place above the relegation zone.

Marine switch their focus to the Wiltshire Senior Cup tonight and travel to near neighbours Highworth hunting a place in the third round.

Jeff Roberts’ Worthians, who ply their trade a tier lower in Southern League Division One South, are also in the midst of a difficult run as they are winless in four games.

Although no league points are on the line, Marine chief Spalding is eyeing a victory at the Save on Tyres Stadium to get momentum going for his side again.

“Every game is one we go into wanting to win, that’s how we approach it,” said Spalding.

“I am not looking at what competition it is or whether it’s league or cup – we have to go into every game with the mindset that we want to win.

“Every game we have to make sure we are 100 per cent at it and everyone is totally focussed in what they have to do and what their jobs are.

“At the moment, we are going through a little testing period, but I am sure we will come out of it at the other end stronger.

“When I look at the quality of the players, I am confident that we have got a good enough group to win games and get ourselves up the league.

“It is a tough period at the moment, but I am sure we will pull through.”

Marine suffered a 1-0 defeat at Staines Town at the weekend, while Highworth lost by the same scoreline at home to Cinderford Town.
