ONE TO WATCH: Jamie Devitt

RICHIE Wellens takes charge of his first game tomorrow and one of his primary targets will be to stop the in-form Jamie Devitt from extending his recent goal-scoring run.

The journeyman striker is enjoying an upturn in form with three goals in his last two games, including a brace in Carlisle’s league win over Newport County at Brunton Park.

Devitt, who has put 12 shots on target from his 21 shots, has scored four goals so far this season while laying on two assists for team mates.

The former Hull trainee bagged 10 goals for United last season and is on course to better that this time around.

Keeping Devitt honest up front could be key if Wellens is to make a positive start to life at SN1.

KEY BATTLE: Martin Smith v Mike Jones

RICHIE Wellens has stated that he likes his teams to get the ball down and play so it will be interesting to see who he chooses to run his midfield. While James Dunne is a combative midfielder, he lacks the guile to play intricate passes in between the lines.

And with Michael Doughty still out injured, Martin Smith is likely to be the one entrusted with dictating the game for Wellens’ side.

How well he is able to do this will be down to how effectively opposite number Mike Jones.

Jones will have an eye on scoring against the leaky Town defence but he must stop Swindon midfielder Smith from causing problems at the other end if Carlisle are to come away with points.
