LOWER STRATTON manager Alan Spring recalled his side’s 3-3 draw with FC Dorcan in the Swindon & District League Premier Division as one of the most enjoyable games he has watched this season.

Stratton went 1-0 up after being awarded a penalty – Richard Clark scoring from the spot – before Dorcan squared things up minutes later.

An own goal by Dorcan put Lower Stratton back ahead before half-time, while the visitors stretched their lead shortly after the break.

Dorcan began the fightback with 20 minutes to play, though, and rescued a draw in the dying minutes.

Looking back, Stratton boss Spring said: “It was a very equal game. Both teams played some good football and both sides had chances to score that they didn’t take.

“Neither team deserved to lose the game, so for me, a draw was the right result.

“We’ve got Dorcan again on Saturday, so it was like the first part of a double-header. Both sides have weighed each other up now.

“It was one of the most enjoyable games I’ve watched this season.”

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Ruby Removals scraped past Swindon Supermarine Development 6-5, while Stratton Juniors beat Wheatsheaf Stratton 3-0 to maintain their unbeaten league campaign. Stephen Bizley, Nat Harrison and Brad Gill completed the scoring for Juniors.

In Division One, second-placed Blunsdon went level on points with leaders Kintbury Rangers Reserves, who didn’t have a game at the weekend, thanks to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Chiseldon, while a Craig Alexander brace was not enough for Village Inn as they went down 5-2 at home to Sportz Central.

Highworth Town Development dominated North Swindon WMC with a comprehensive 9-0 win, while there was another impressive victory for Wroughton Reserves as they thrashed Swindon Centurians 16-0.

There was a full compliment of fixtures in Division Two, with Redhouse continuing their dominance of the division. They saw off fourth-placed Moredon 5-0 thanks to a brace from Chris Jones as well as efforts from Kieran Diaz-Benitez, Daniel Ricketts and Chris Ricketts.

Priory Vale also won 5-0 as they got the better of FC Abbeymeads.

Second-place Swindon AFC swept struggling Cricklade Town Reserves aside as they eased to a 4-0 victory at home.

Spectrum overcame winless Brockhill United with a 5-2 away win, while Down Ampney won an 11-goal thriller against Bassett Bulldogs 6-5 to climb up to third in the table.
