DEFENDING champions Kintbury Rangers went top of the Wiltshire League for the first time since the opening round of fixtures with a narrow 3-2 win over Marlborough Town.

Fabio Pinto put Rangers in front, but Christopher Deane levelled for Town before Tom Mahoney put Kintbury ahead once again - only for Aaron Presley to square things up once more before half-time.

Chris Cox netted his sixth goal of the season to secure all three points for Kintbury and with previous leaders Wroughton not playing – due to a waterlogged pitch – Rangers regained their place at the summit.

Elsewhere, Corsham Town Reserves held onto their unbeaten home record as they battled to a 1-1 draw against fourth-placed Melksham Town Reserves.

Melksham’s Jamal Chevolleau bagged his twelfth of the campaign to put the home side’s unbeaten record in jeopardy, but Ross Lye rescued Corsham to record their sixth home draw this term.

The most surprising result of the weekend belonged to Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development as they inflicted a second consecutive defeat on Cricklade Town.

Ben Paul and George Staten put the visitors ahead early on before Elliot Corp halved the deficit shortly before the break. Within a minute of the restart, Cricklade were level as Billy Sly netted.

However, 10 minutes before the end, Bassett nicked the winner as Paul secured his brace and granted the visitors all three points.

Trowbridge Town registered their fifth consecutive league win with a simple 4-0 win over Westbury United Reserves at the weekend.

There was no such luck for several teams though as Devizes Town Reserves' tie against Shrewton United was postponed, as was Ludgershall Sports home tie against Pewsey Vale.

Purton's clash against Malmesbury Victoria Development was also called off, as was Wroughton Town's tie against Football ID.
