HIGHWORTH MANAGER Jeff Roberts is hoping to welcome back key players into his squad ahead of this weekend’s tough game at home to Moneyfields.

Town are currently sat seventh in South Division One South - a point off the play-offs and four points behind their visitors.

However they could jump into the promotion mix with a victory over a Moneyfields side that have only lost twice in the league all year.

Roberts was without key players Darren Jefferies and Callum Parsons for last weekend’s trip to Mangotsfield, but it mattered not as Town battled to a 1-0 win in awful conditions.

The Worthians manager is hopeful his important players will be back this weekend though as Highworth once again go hunting a big scalp in.

Roberts said: “Moneyfields are doing very well so it will be a massive test for us this week.

“Hopefully, we’ll have a few big players back in the squad this weekend and Rory Sproule isn’t too far away now. If we can get him fit and training, then he’s another great addition.

“We’re gradually welcoming players back who have had little niggles so as a squad, we’re getting more solid day by day but the lads who have played in recent weeks have done a great job for us.”

Highworth are currently on a three-game winning run and Roberts is pleased his side are beginning to pick up some momentum ahead of a busy Christmas period.

However, the Town boss is worried that unless he can bring some fresh faces in, his players may soon suffer from burn out.

“Over the coming period, we’ve got four games in nine days so it’s going to be a massive test for some of them.

“If we can try and get the squad a little bit bigger that will help, but we’re looking at maybe bringing in a striker to help Ash (Edenborough) out and give us that flexibility.”
